Enugu State Indigene Receives International Recognition from U.S. Leadership Institute
Civil servants and retirees in Enugu State are set to benefit from improved welfare programs under new initiatives launched by His Excellency, Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. The measures, which include financial and infrastructural support, aim to enhance working conditions and boost morale across the state’s public service.
The new policy outlines a review of adjustments arising from the minimum wage and continued investment in manpower development across the civil service.
The 2026 fiscal framework reflects a pro-workers posture, with N32 billion allocated for pensions, gratuities and inherited liabilities. Steps are also being taken to improve the working environment for public servants through the completion of Wing C of the new State Secretariat and the renovation of Blocks A and B.
The initiatives have been described as demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the welfare and professional growth of the state workforce, highlighting Gov. Peter Mbah as a workers-friendly leader who prioritizes public servants’ well-being.
Labour representatives welcomed the welfare measures, noting that the initiatives are expected to restore confidence and motivation among civil servants and retirees.
The welfare initiatives were the focus of a consultative meeting at the Government House in Enugu between the Governor and labour leaders on matters affecting workers and retirees. The session was described as constructive and underscored collaboration between the state government and organised labour.
Labour representatives expressed optimism that the enhanced welfare programs, along with planned infrastructure upgrades and manpower development, would boost productivity, raise morale and reinforce a culture of dedication and excellence across the public service.
