Engr. Ogbuekwe Highlights Enugu’s Bold Move on Clustered Farming and Market Access

Engr Mike Ogbuekwe   Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, the Managing Director/CEO of the Enugu State Marketing Company and Special Assistant to Gov. Peter Mbah on Agriculture, has emphasized the state government’s active drive for clustered, mechanized farming and structured distribution of farm produce across Enugu State. Ogbuekwe made this known in an interview, describing the initiative as a “two-pronged strategy” that enables both smallholder and large-scale farmers to operate efficiently, share resources, and engage in cooperative or out-grower and in-grower models. He explained that the Farm Estates, which cover 52,000 hectares across the state, provide each ward with 200 hectares cleared, fenced, and equipped with security and warehouse facilities, while plots of one hectare are allocated to community farmers and large-scale commercial farmers access land through the state’s land bank.
