Nigeria Links Academic Research Database to NYSC Participation – Alausa

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Morufu Olatunji Alausa, has announced that compliance with the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) policy will now be required for graduates seeking participation or exemption from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The Minister made the announcement during the 2026 National Capacity Building Programme on the NERD policy in Abuja, where officials discussed the implementation of the national academic repository. According to Alausa, the NERD platform has already archived nearly 100,000 student submissions within four months of operation. The system has also onboard more than 350 institutions, with over 133,000 students and about 6,800 lecturers currently enrolled.
