Custos Care Foundation Strengthens Women’s Healthcare Access in Enugu

Custos Care Foundation outreach provides free medical services to women and girls in Enugu The Custos Care Foundation (CCF), founded by Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah, First Lady of Enugu State, provided free medical services to hundreds of women and girls at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu. The outreach, which formed part of the International Women’s Day activities in the state, reinforced the foundation’s ongoing mission to improve women’s health and well-being. Under the foundation’s Expanded Mama Care Initiative (EMCI), participants received comprehensive health services including blood pressure, diabetes, malaria, HIV, and hepatitis B screenings. Doctors and nurses provided consultations, while optometrists conducted eye exams and distributed around 230 eyeglasses. Medications were also dispensed free of charge. The medical mission, organised under the Rotary India–Nigeria Medical Mission, was officially declared open at a joint press conference by the Commissioner for Health, Prof. George Ugwu, and the Rotary International Team Leader, Dr. Santhosh Sreedhar. HOME GROWN FOOD FOR CHILDREN'S HEALTHY LIVING —SNO

Mothers have been encouraged to give their children home grown foods and vegetables to help them grow healthy and reduce malnutrition and mortality rate amongst children. The State Nutrition Officer (SNO) Mrs. Loveth Onwuzuluike from State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), made the statement during a UNICEF supported outreach to the Iva Pottery Health Center, at Iva Valley Enugu by the Social Mobilization and Technical Committee (SOMTEC) members. Mrs. Onwuzuluike who found out two malnourished babies while checking the children at the health center with Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) Tape, frowned at the condition and advised mothers to always make vegetable gardens in their environment as well as grow local foods and fruits that will add nutritional value to the lives of their children, save cost of living and enjoy healthy leaders tomorrow.
